Navia Systems Brand Development

Background

Navia Systems, Inc. was founded in 2007 by four
MIT doctoral students. The company uses proprietary
computational methods to identify patterns in large
complex datasets and assign significance to them.
Navia’s goal is to help people make more rational,
data-driven decisions by designing and building
technology that makes good judgments in the
presence of uncertainty. After recognizing the need
for this technology in many fields, from medicine
to geophysics to finance, Navia Systems began
working on different aspects of the problem:
probabilistic programming technology, critical
end-user applications, and probabilistic hardware.

Challenge

Navia Systems is charting completely new ground
in probability-driven computing and statistical
analysis. The company faced a three-fold challenge:
to communicate the benefits and needs for
probabilistically designed computers and software;
explain how the world would be better with it and
finally make a convincing argument and why Navia
Systems is the strongest company developing
this technology.

Solution

KS developed a relevant and futuristic brand
solution applicable to a variety of web and print
needs. The brand was designed to be clean,
exceptionally functional, and unique, while
communicating to a highly technical developer
audience. The solution uses Greek letters from
Navia’s programming language that function
as both a graphic element and as a symbolic
representation of the company’s work.

Results

A brand that speaks to the target audience of
programmers in a language they understand.
The company now has a firm footing from which to
launch Veritable, the world’s first data interpretation
service based on probabilistic computing, while
simultaneously improving and extending its core
probabilistic computing technology into new
software and hardware components.
